sailing ships

Also on Wednesday, it just so happened to be the first day of the Festival of Sail. A great number of tall ships from around the world sailed in under Golden Gate Bridge and conveniently past Alcatraz. Of course, there were several already docked in San Francisco, which had to sail past us to join the parade back in to the bay.

Love the big sailboats. When I was growing up, they came to Quebec City ("Quebec 1984") and I got to see them. When I started kindergarden, it's the only thing I would draw: three-masts sailships with pirates on them!
