When I first started looking into our little New Mexico trip, I wanted to stay at Jemez Springs. It didn't work out in the end, but I was keen for us to drive back to Albequerque that way, rather than back through Santa Fe. The drive was beautiful, with the road meandering along the bottom of a steep-sided canyon.
