I spent much of this weekend digging up the scraggly area of lawn out the front, and replacing it with mulch and a variety of native grasses. I took the dug-up grass round the back and into the chook pen. There was so much of it, it formed a decent-sized mound. From on top, the chooks could have given one flap of their wings, been up and over the fence, and into the deliciously green vegetable patch they've been eyeing off for weeks. Instead, they concentrated on looking for worms, and so scratched away at the mound until it was dispersed.
