On Thursday, I managed to escape from work while it was still light outside. My friend's house in South Brisbane is becoming surrounded by office blocks and swishy new apartments, but for the moment, her backyard survives. There's even space for a Chinese pole, between the back shed, the vegie garden and the clothesline. We haven't done much climbing on it yet, but we've sat and admired it on quite a few occasions.
