Now, I'm no botanist, but I think this is a fine example of my namesake.. Themeda triandra. Also in this grassy meadow were plenty of these big yellow flowers, as well as a leech who climbed aboard my ankle while I was admiring them. I can feel comforted that I gave blood to nature on the first day of the year.
